Sunday School for Degenerates 2011 review! (Miami Music Week 2011 event)

Sunday School crowd shot!

Just a short distance from the huge Ultra Music Festival during Miami Music Week was another event with a very different feel to it. The annual Sunday School for Degenerates took place the weekend of March 25th – 27th at the Ice Palace Studios. With a running time of 36 hours (not including a 12 hour break from on Saturday), the party provided fans an impressive lineup of musical talent. Sunday School has become a favorite party to play as listed by several djs and the crowd enthusiasm seems to be the biggest reason behind this. The crowd tends to lean towards a bit older and more musically eclectic crowd than those at say Ultra… different strokes for different folks as they say!

Friday night was headlined by the Minus party featuring Ritchie Hawtin as well as Boys Noize in the second room.

The author arrived at the event Saturday night as Frivilous was wrapping up his set. Victor Calderone was dropping tribal techno (as I like to call it) in the other room. Next on in the Cadenza room was Luciano who didn’t disappoint. Unknown to myself at the time but rap mogul and EDM fan P Diddy was in the house for Luciano’s set as well! Luciano’s set was a definite crowd pleaser and as one would expect deeper and darker than his poolside sets earlier during Miami Music Week. As the sun rose, the outdoor stage began to keep the attendees grooving with funky beats in the Miami sunshine. Other djs playing the event include Mr. C, Josh Wink, Seth Troxler and more. One can only assume that in 2012 Made Events, the promoters behind Sunday School, are able to reproduce the community feeling found in the crowd!
