Up in the Sky Returns: John Summit, Dom Dolla and Empire of the Sun Set to Ignite Aspen This August

Aspen, Colorado is once again gearing up for its most ambitious summer music event. Wynn Nightlife and festival partners Belly Up Aspen and C3 Presents have officially announced the full lineup for the second annual Up in the Sky Music Festival, returning to the sweeping base of Buttermilk Mountain on Friday, August 7 and Saturday, August 8, 2026. With two of dance music’s most electrifying names — John Summit and Dom Dolla — headlining opposite nights, the festival is shaping up to be a landmark event in the summer calendar. In addition, fan favorites Empire of the Sun perform on Friday night and Polo & Pan on Saturday.

The Headliners
Friday, August 7 — John Summit
Opening the weekend is John Summit, the Chicago-bred tech house phenomenon who has become one of the biggest names in electronic music over the past five years. Born John Walter Schuster, Summit famously walked away from a career as a certified public accountant at Ernst & Young to bet everything on his music — a gamble that paid off spectacularly. His 2020 single Deep End on Defected Records became the longest-running Beatport No. 1 track that year, and he has never looked back.

Since then, Summit has headlined Coachella, Lollapalooza, Tomorrowland, and Madison Square Garden, sold out The O2 Arena in London, and launched his own label, Experts Only — named SiriusXM’s Powertools Label of the Year for 2025. His debut studio album Comfort in Chaos (2024) debuted at No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart and cracked the Billboard 200. A second album, Ctrl Escape, is due in April 2026 — meaning Aspen audiences may be among the first to hear new material performed live.

DJ Mag has described Summit’s style simply but accurately: “Peaks and valleys. I treat my sets like a movie where I come in hot, get in a groove, and have highlights throughout the set… No matter what, it’s always a party.” His sound blends the classic Chicago house tradition with euphoric, festival-ready anthems — rooted in the underground, but built to move tens of thousands of people at once. Notably, Summit and Saturday’s headliner Dom Dolla co-created the collaborative event brand Everything Always, which debuted in 2023 — making their back-to-back nights at Up in the Sky something of a reunion between two artists who have helped define the current moment in global house music.

Saturday, August 8 — Dom Dolla
Closing out the weekend is Australian house music superstar Dom Dolla, who has had a meteoric few years that culminated in headline stadium shows across Australia and sold-out runs at iconic venues like Madison Square Garden and Red Rocks Amphitheatre. A Grammy Award nominee for his remix of Gorillaz’s “New Gold” featuring Tame Impala, Dom Dolla has also taken home multiple ARIA Awards for Best Dance Release and won Tech House Artist of the Year at the Electronic Dance Music Awards in 2025.

Raised in Darwin, Australia’s remote Northern Territory, and later Melbourne, Dolla discovered house music after his mother handed him a copy of Basement Jaxx’s Rooty as a teenager. He spent years DJing pub nights and working as a graphic designer before committing to music full-time in 2015. His 2019 single Take It, with Torren Foot, was the catalyst — hitting No. 1 on Beatport, the Global Spotify Viral chart, and the Global Shazam chart, accumulating over 100 million streams and earning Platinum certification in Australia.

His signature sound blends hypnotic basslines with soulful melodies and festival-size grooves, and his 2025 has included notable collaborations with Kid Cudi, Nelly Furtado, and a contribution to the F1 film soundtrack. DJ Mag ranked him No. 41 in its Top 100 DJs list for 2025 — up 25 positions in a single year. For Aspen, audiences can expect a high-octane closing set that has become the hallmark of any Dom Dolla performance.

This is the festival’s second edition. The inaugural Up in the Sky, held in August 2025, was headlined by Rüfüs Du Sol and Kacey Musgraves and announced the arrival of a genuinely world-class summer music event in the Roaring Fork Valley. The 2026 edition doubles down on the electronic music focus, with a lineup that leans heavily into the global house and dance scene while showcasing a range of acts — from the synth-pop spectacle of Empire of the Sun to the French duo Polo & Pan’s kaleidoscopic disco-house.
