Just as the Monday night party Cocoon was winding down, a huge task force including a helicopter arrived at the famous Ibiza nightclub Amnesia. Taken into custody included the owner, Martin Ferrer, along with 3 others. Local media report the reason for the raid was due to an investigation into the club’s owner involvement in money laundering.
So far this appears not to have affected the club’s operation as tonight’s party is has been confirmed to take place. It remains to be seen if this raid has any affect on the continued operation of the venue for the 2016 summer season. The following was posted on the Amnesia website just now:
We hope that the owner’s issues will not affect the 2016 summer season at Amnesia and with no further actions or interruptions.
Update – July 12th – Only July 8th, Space and Privilege were raised as well by Spanish authorities. The raid was said to be part of a country-wide investigation into tax fraud (under reporting income). The raids at Space and Privilege were said to be a separate investigation as the one at Amnesia.
