Amsterdam Dance Event 2018 Conference Program


Amsterdam Dance Event 2018 kicks off tomorrow, and we have a conference guide for those lucky enough to attend. ADE 2018 will host numerous events that include panel discussions, pop-up performances, tech schools, and charity events. Go here for ADE 2018’s full conference program.

Wednesday 17th

Day one starts off with ADE Green at the DeLaMar Theater with panels discussing the effects touring has on mental health and the responsible use of plastics.

ADE Pro will also be at the DeLaMar Theater with the opening keynote speech delivered by Yann Pissenem, the owner, founder, and CEO of The Night League, which is the company behind clubs Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza. Yann will discuss the influence of art, architecture, commerce, culture, and music when creating clubs as well as brands. Paul van Dyk will give his first public interview at ADE Pro since falling off the stage at the A State of Trance festival. ADE Pro will feature a discussion regarding utilizing music for positive change with Rave for a Revolution! panelist BASSIANI. The discussion will be based on the ongoing project ‘I Dance Alone’ by Serbian/Dutch artist, curator, and researcher Bogomir Doringer. A keynote speech will be delivered by Zoe Margolis for ‘Us Too – Sexism, Shaming and Standing up for What’s Right in the Age of Social Media.’

ADE Sound Lab will feature ‘The Record Bag of 30 Years of Dutch Dance.’ DJs will share the records that inspired them when house music came to the Netherlands.

ADE BeamLab at the Festival Hangout will highlight the audiovisual arts with Weltmaschine ”World-machine” developed by Albert van Abbe and Andreas Nicolas Fischer.

Attendees at ADE University can meet the team behind Audio Obscura. ADE Audio Obscura will be hosting nine events this year over five days at locations that include Central Station and the Scheepsvaart Museum

‘The House of China’ at De Balie is a new platform to connect Chinese and international electronic music industries to present the latest developments, opportunities as well as challenges in the Chinese market.

Thursday 18th

The keynote interview for ADE Pro at the DeLaMar Theater will be with Soundcloud’s CEO, Kerry Trainor, who will be discussing the future of SoundCloud, the important role of the electronic dance community on the platform, and share new developments for DJs all live from the ADE stage. Def Jam VP, Bruce Carbone, will discuss at ADE Pro crossover music in ‘The Power of Pop – What the New Generation of Pop/Dance Acts Can Learn from the 90s.’

ADE Music Talks will welcome Grammy award winning artist and music legend Nile Rodgers.

Netsky and Lost Frequencies will be dissecting the track that they made together ‘Here With You’ onstage for ADE Sound Lab at the Festival Hangout. ADE Sound Lab will also be ‘In the Studio with De Sluwe Vos and Lucas & Steve’ as well as have the new format ‘The Record Bag with Jayda G & Kenny Dope.’

Alan Walker will join ADE University at the DeLaMar Theater to feature trends, successes, and opportunities in China as well as meet the team behind the Headhunterz.

ADE Tech at the DeLaMar Theater will have five finalists compete to win during the ‘Companies to Watch’ session. Laidback Luke will also discuss his early days as a vinyl-only DJ recounting how tech changed his performances and how that affected his relationship with the crowd.

Friday 19th

ADE Beats at the Melkweg kicks off with Major Lazer’s Jillionaire answering questions regarding his musical career and his global approach to pushing his music forward. There will be a keynote Q&A with Khady Thiam Gueye, COO of KonLive, which is the company founded by her brother Akon. Khady will discuss her global perspective on the industry and its worldwide potential. Khady will be joined by London On Da Track to share stories of his influence on hip-hop and electronic music. Shanti Das will discuss her contributions creating a more inclusive and healthy music industry. She will emphasize her campaign Silence the Shame that tackles the stigmas around mental health and offer healthy alternatives in the music industry.

David Guetta will return to ADE Pro at the DeLaMar Theater for an intimate conversation regarding his early days and formative influences in music as well as reveal what and who inspired him on his latest recording “7.”

ADE MusicTalks at the Sound Lab will have Bonobo making his speaker debut discussing his musical journey. Xosar will host a workshop on sound healing focusing on awareness of the effects of sound on the human brain and body.

ADE University at the DeLaMar Theater will host a panel on ‘The Power of Playlists.’ Tiga and Kölsch will discuss the pros and cons of starting a label as well as what they’ve both learned regarding labels over their careers.

ADE Dance & Brands at the DeLaMar Theater will present a keynote talk regarding working with musicians in creating cohesive brand and music messages.

The third edition of the 24 hour ADE Hackathon will be held in the center of the conference area around Leidseplein where they will be looking for a mix of music, technology, data, entrepreneurship, and innovation from creative minds.

Saturday 20th

Imogen Heap at ADE Sound Lab will highlight how innovations like Distributed Ledger Technology, Artificial Intelligence, and Virtual Reality have the potential to influence music makers. Colin Benders will also utilize his module synthesizers to show the ins and outs of his work-process during his masterclass.

The Music Talk stage will welcome one of the founding fathers of the Future House movement, Don Diablo, to discuss his continually rising career.

Demolition XXIII, Dave Clarke, and a panel of DJs, producers as well as music industry professionals will give critiques of attendees work to close out the conference program.
