EDM Life reported last month that Michael and Pamela Dix, parents of daughter Katie who died due to “multiple drug intoxication” while attending HARD Summer at the Pomona Fairgrounds in August of last year, are suing Live Nation, which is the owner of HARD events. Well on the heels of three more deaths at this year’s HARD Summer, another lawsuit has been filed against Live Nation.
The separate claim is made by Julie Tran, whose daughter Emily died after attending HARD Summer in August of 2014 at Whittier Narrows Recreation Area. The coroner cited the cause of Emily’s death as “acute intoxication of ecstasy”. Tran’s suit also names Staff Pro and HARD as defendants. The suit claims that promoters ignored the drug use “in order to capitalize on teenagers and young adults who believed they were attending a safe party environment…” She also blames the medical personnel at the event due to their failure to “adequately transport” Emily to the first-aid center and then to a hospital.
EDM Life will report more on these lawsuits as more information becomes available.
