For probably as long as Ibiza has had nightclubs there have been ‘carry-ons’ at private homes featuring the djs that spun at the disco the night before.
Now the British Embassy has warned its residents that they can be fined up to €85,000 if they attend illegal house parties in Ibiza.
We should note this appears to be targeted more at those parties which are bringing in sound and charging a cover to get in.
Property owners can be fined from €100,000 €300,000 aned a portion of that cost would be passed onto the attendees!
“There have been a number of serious accidents involving people attending irregular commercially-promoted parties in villas and private homes on the islands of Ibiza and Majorca,” said a spokesperson for the British Embassy. “Licensed clubs and bars are required to meet safety and security standards, including emergency exits and capacity limits, and to have trained licensed security staff. Irregular commercial parties may not meet these standards. You should take care of your belongings, ensure you know where emergency exits are located and not take unnecessary risks. Heavy fines may be imposed by local authorities to anyone attending irregular commercial parties.
