BPM Festival in Costa Rica cancelled (again)

The BPM Festival unfortunately has been snakebit dating back to its days in Playa del Carmen with the dancefloor shooting of carter members at one event. Subsequently the event moved later to Costa Rica however saw cancellations during Covid and now this years installment has been cancelled after the 2nd night.

Originally the event was scheduled to take place in Playa Avellana, Guancaste rather than its historical location in Tamarindo. Local authorities at the last minute prevented the event from taking place and it was relocated back to Tamarindo. One set of parties did take place on the first night of the festival on January 8th. However the event was cancelled from January 10th on.

Per the organizers all permits were secured to continue the festival this weekend however the event has now been cancelled with information released on January 15th regarding refunds.

Here is a statement from the organizers on Instagram:

We’d like to provide clarity about our permits and the events that have unfolded in the past 24 hours. All necessary permits were secured well in advance of the festival. Following the unexpected closures of January 9th, our team attended emergency meetings with local authorities, appeared before the local court, and received the green light to make our events happen. This reaffirmation only confirmed what we already knew: we have always been fully authorized to deliver these events for our ticket holders.

Despite every effort made by our team, who have worked around the clock from across the world, there are forces at play in Costa Rica that appear determined for us and for other electronic events to discontinue or fail.
