Miami-based French house producer Cedric Gervais and legendary artist and producer Nile Rodgers have just released a new take on the Sister Sledge classic disco hit “We Are Family.” This fresh interpretation merges Cedric’s trademark arena-filling house vibes and rich, harmonic textures with Nile’s legendary funk-inspired rhythms. The result is a dance-oriented gem that pays homage to the classic while pushing boundaries with a contemporary flair.
Released via Armada Music, this track serves as both a celebration of the original and a modern dance anthem tailored for today’s worldwide listeners. Following Cedric’s July chart-topper “Switch,” a collaboration with David Guetta, “We Are Family” encapsulates the essence of both artists’ musical realms, forging an enticing blend of soulful funk and house genres.
This marks the second time Cedric Gervais and Nile Rodgers have joined forces to reimagine a timeless hit, following their widely acclaimed 2020 single “Everybody Dance,” which featured Franklin.
Gervais said of their reworking of the hit song:
“4 years ago myself, Franklin and Nile Rogers recreated the single ‘Everybody Dance,’ we had so much fun with the record and when we realized we had an opportunity to recreate ‘We Are Family‘ with Nile and collaborate together, again we jumped at the chance. We got together at Night Bird studio in Los Angeles and recreated the record there and then; Nile‘s love for music is infectious, and the stories he shared during the session were inspiring. This song has such a positive, unifying message and I can’t wait to share it with everyone.”
