A groundbreaking collaboration is set to transform the festival landscape as two beloved Northern California music institutions join forces. Dirtybird Campout and Northern Nights Music Festival have announced their first-ever joint event, bringing together their distinctive vibes for an unforgettable weekend among the towering redwoods.

Where Urban Meets Nature: The Perfect Setting

From July 18-20, 2025, music enthusiasts will gather at Cook’s Valley Campground, a breathtaking venue situated on the Humboldt/Mendocino County Line. Just 190 miles north of San Francisco, this picturesque location offers serene riverfront access along the Eel River, surrounded by majestic California Redwoods. As the heart of the Emerald Triangle, this natural paradise creates the ideal backdrop for this historic partnership.

A Musical Journey Through Multiple Worlds

The 2025 event presents an extraordinary lineup that marries Dirtybird’s signature sound with Northern Nights’ diverse musical curation. British soul and funk collective Jungle will make their redwoods debut with a specially crafted DJ set, while acclaimed duo Zeds Dead brings their fresh sounds following their recent LP “Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness.”

The musical offerings span multiple genres and feature standout performers including:

  • UK singer-songwriter Aluna, breaking boundaries with her EMPIRE label releases
  • House music favorites Walker & Royce delivering their groove-heavy beats
  • The genre-defying rising stars Levity
  • Dirtybird veterans including the Martin Brothers (Justin and Christian), Justin Jay, Ardalan, and Mz Worthy
  • Underground talents like J.Phlip, VNSSA, Nala, Gettoblaster, Kevin Knapp, and Sacha Robotti

True to both festivals’ reputations for eclectic programming, attendees can also catch turntablism pioneer Cut Chemist, drum & bass legends Ed Rush & Optical, Jersey club queen UNIIQU3, LGBTQ+ champion Wreckno, experimental producer Super Future, multi-instrumentalist KR3TURE, trumpet virtuoso Balkan Bump, and bass innovator Mary Droppinz.

Additional highlights include Chicago’s Gene Farris, emerging artists Bianca Oblivion and Jackie Hollander, the melodic Life on Planets, collaborative duo Omicasa (Craze & Matsu), transatlantic pair Kaleida, the psychedelic live performer Shaded, and many more.

A Multi-Sensory Festival Experience

The event introduces an expanded River Stage concept, with dual water-adjacent stages dubbed the River Stage and Bird Bath Stage. Each offers distinct sonic journeys—one focused on groove-driven house vibes and the other exploring deeper, left-field bass sounds—positioned on opposite sides of the county line.

Beyond the riverside, the Main Stage represents the true fusion of both festival brands, featuring headline acts curated by both communities. The Grove Stage, nestled among the redwoods, will host diverse performances alongside daytime wellness activities, while the Late Night Bunker Stage keeps the energy flowing into dawn with memorable sunrise sets.

Beyond the Music: A Festival Culture Fusion

This collaboration brings together Dirtybird Campout’s playful, anything-goes spirit with Northern Nights’ pioneering cannabis and wellness programming. Attendees can participate in interactive games and activities reminiscent of Dirtybird’s adult summer camp atmosphere, while also enjoying Northern Nights’ renowned Tree Lounge cannabis consumption area.

Festival highlights will include Dirtybird’s legendary end-of-weekend Family Set, surprise back-to-back performances, label takeovers, wellness programming, community-driven “Our Friends” stages, and a vibrant silent disco experience.

A New Dawn for Independent Festivals

This partnership represents a significant shift in the festival industry, demonstrating how independent events can collaborate while maintaining their unique identities. Dirtybird, celebrating over 20 years as a dance music cornerstone, brings its inclusive community of free spirits and mavericks. Northern Nights contributes more than a decade of innovation, including its status as the first festival to introduce legal on-site cannabis sales and consumption.

Together, they’ve created something greater than the sum of their parts—a testament to shared values and community-building in the festival space.
