Last Thursday in New York City, a lawsuit was filed again DJ Snake and Lil Jon over their track ‘Turn Down for What’ alleging they stole large parts of their track from another track by the exact same name by Freddie GZ. The DJ Snake and Lil Jon version has racked up over 670 million Youtube views and sold over 500,000 copies of the track since its release in 2014. Representing the plaintiff is Richard Busch who represented the Marvin Gaye family in its win over Robin Thicke and Pharrell over ‘Blurred Lines.’
The complaint notes: “Tellingly, Lil Jon and DJ Snake exchanged tweets regarding their Infringing Work on July 15, 2013, only four months after the release of Plaintiff’s Original Work. DJ Snake tweeted to Lil Jon ‘Turn Down For What ??? @LilJon’; Lil Jon replied ‘LET’S GO! Rt’@djsnake: Turn Down For What ??? @LilJon.’:”
