White the EZoo promoters said the first day of the event was to be cancelled due to “global supply chain disruptions,” in reality the event was cancelled for day 1 due to the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation officials not issuing the necessary permits to open.
The event did take place on that Saturday as scheduled however Sunday also turned into a fiasco with an apparently overselling of tickets by thousands leading to upset fans who eventually rushed the gates and entered unfettered.
In addition, many attendees did not get access on Saturday due to not being sent their bracelets before the event and having to wait hours in long lines to get their access bracelets. It is not unlikely to believe that the promoters of the event told the front line employees to delay giving out bracelets due to overselling the event.
The owner of Electric Zoo, Jürgen “Billy” Bildstein, has been criticized for his operation of the Avant Gardner aka Brooklyn Mirage venue which has had problems with overcrowding, drug use and recently two different patrons were found dead nearby the venue.
Industry rumors abound that a major talent agency has forced Avant Garnder to 100% pre-pay for the acts they manage due to slow-playing old invoices for shows that took place.
The mayor of NYC, Eric Adams, after the EZoo fiasco said the city will investigate the event and owners.
