Erick Morillo, one of the biggest names in house music since the 1990s, has been found dead at his home in Miami Beach per TMZ and Local10.
A 911 call was placed this morning and an investigation is undergoing to establish the cause of death.
The DJ had penned the hit track “I Like to Move It” in 1992 under the ‘Reel 2 Real’ name.
Morillo also ran Subliminal Records known for its pumping house music released.
Recently the dj has been charged with sexual battery in Miami Beach dating back to an incident in December 2019.
In a statement sent to Mixmag, Miami Beach Police Department said:
“We received a 911 call this morning at 10:42 a.m to 5660 La Gorce Drive in Miami Beach. Detectives responded to the scene and did not observe any apparent signs of foul play. The cause of death will be determined by the Miami Dade Medical Examiner’s Office.”
