Groove Cruise’s New Groove Island Event on Catalina Island Enthralls Dance Music Fans

Groove Island

This past weekend saw the people behind the Groove Cruise launch ‘Grove Island,’ bringing their party to Catalina Island, southwest off the coast of  Los Angeles.

The event consisted of daytime and evening parties on the beach at the Descanso Beach Club and additional parties into the night at the famous Catalina Casino a mere 3 minute walk from the beach club.

It’s clear from the after movie what a fun weekend this was on Catalina!

As is usual for Groove Cruise, the event featured djs and artists loved by the GC Fam such as Kristina Sky, Scotty Boy and Drums of the Sun. Additional talent included major names such as Chus and Ceballos, Anthony Attalla, Tommie Sunshine, Oliver Heldens, Shiba San, Mark Knight and Andrew Ravel.

Much of the islands available rooms and vacation rentals for the weekend were locked down by Groove Island, making it easy to book a package including 3 days and nights of housing as well access to all 3 days of music. Undoubtedly one of the main stars of the weekend was Catalina Island itself. Providing many activities during the day to avail one self of such as zip lining, renting golf carts to explore the island, nature tours, snorkeling and scuba diving, yoga on the beach, parasailing or just having a beer in quaint downtown Avalon watching the tourists stroll around.

Even with the weather turnings unexpectedly cool Sunday night with temps in the low 60s, the crowd was up for it with Oliver Helden’s closing set putting an exclamation point on the dayclub parties.

As many of the attendees at Groove Island attend their Groove Cruise parties regularly, one could feel the friendliness of the crowd who it was more of a happy reunion and a chance to dance and dress up at the various theme parties each day and night.

A minor quibble which was out of the Groove Island’s hands was the lack of taxis after 11pm, meaning one was faced with a bit of a walk home if they were not staying in one of the waterfront hotels.

All in all, the event was a successful showcase of dance music, good people and the picturesque island that is Catalina. We are looking forward to a return in 2020!
