After getting vetoed by outgoing Governor Jerry Brown in 2018, Scott Wiener’s SB58 bill to allow 10 California cities to (at their choice) extend last call to 4AM passed the Senate by a 28-6 vote. The change would be in place for 5 years to allow time to see the impact of the change.
The bill now proceeds to the Assembly for a vote which if successful (as it was in 2018), will proceed to Governor Newman’s desk for signature.
The current bill will allow for the extended hours in: San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, Sacramento, West Hollywood, Long Beach, Coachella, Cathedral City, Fresno, and Palm Springs.
