Is this the Future of Music Events?

A Los Angeles creative studio, Production Club, recently unveiled a design for a pandemic-proof, futuristic raving suit called the Micrashell. Production Club has previously produced interactive and light installations for artists such as Grimes and Skrillex.

Since the music events industry has been put on hold thanks to the pandemic, designers at Production Club have refocused their attention and efforts toward solutions for allowing people to safely attend music events without social distancing. The features of the high-tech design include “phone integration, beverage and vape consumption, voice communication, a subwoofer sound system, a video camera, fashion accessories and a breathable helmet with unobscured views.”

Production Club’s Head of Inventions, Miguel Risueño, said the following to mixmag:

“With everyone in our industry focused on developing virtual solutions we decided to focus on something more emotional, physical and inherently human so the industry as a whole could have a broader chance to recover promptly.”

The suit at this point is just a design without any actually produced. However, if a vaccine for the virus is not discovered soon and lockdowns indefinitely continue, then we may just need the suit to safely attend music events.

Production Club’s Head of Special Projects, Corey Johnson, commented the following to mixmag:

“We believe events are essential to the human experience and create the memories that define our lives. While we might not see a Coachella-sized event for some time, we are excited by the challenge to create innovative solutions to push forward quality live entertainment and human connection.”
