Last Night A DJ Saved My Life Unveils the World’s Highest Full Moon Party in Nepal 2026 and female DJ contest

The music world is watching as hundreds of female DJs from across the globe compete for a chance to spin at the most extreme venue imaginable: a frozen lake nearly 5,000 meters up in the Himalayas, under a full moon.

What started as a simple question from music-industry charity Last Night A DJ Saved My Life has exploded into a viral phenomenon. “Who will DJ the highest full moon party on Earth?” they asked four weeks ago. The response has been overwhelming, with submissions pouring in from female and gender-diverse DJs on every continent, each eager to be part of something that transcends music.

Seeing the global women-in-music community step forward like this has been incredible. We’re blown away.  The passion, the purpose, the desire to climb for a project that empowers girls — it’s deeply moving and exactly the energy this mission deserves.

The search for this headline DJ officially kicked into high gear following a sold-out screening in London on Wednesday night, where the charity unveiled its most ambitious project yet: A Sonic Adventure in Nepal 2026. Partnering with The Tribe Experience, LNADJ is organizing a 13-day Himalayan expedition that will culminate in that extraordinary full moon party at Lake Tilicho, sitting at a breathtaking 4,919 meters above sea level. It’s adventure, creativity, and community woven together with serious purpose.

That purpose is supporting over 27,000 girls in Nepal through the completion of a Girls Learning Centre in Devchuli, the next crucial phase of Nepal’s Girls Empowerment Programme. Since 2018, GEP has been a lifeline for thousands of young women, helping them escape early marriage and trafficking while providing access to education, counselling, vocational training, and leadership development. The new centre will expand these vital services, offering safe spaces and opportunities for personal growth to thousands more.

The launch event at The Garden Cinema brought together a powerful mix of music industry leaders, artists, and activists for an emotional evening centered around the premiere of ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.’ The documentary chronicles LNADJ’s 2018 Kilimanjaro expedition, where a crew of DJs and supporters reached the summit and delivered the highest DJ set ever performed on Earth, with pioneering electronic artist Nightmares On Wax behind the decks. That climb raised funds to build a home for 50 children with special needs in Moshi, Tanzania—a facility that continues to thrive today.

The film captures the raw emotional journey of the climbers and the lasting impact of their mission, reminding everyone in attendance why music and purpose make such a potent combination. Nightmares On Wax joined filmmaker Neil Kemp for a live Q&A, reflecting on his world-record-breaking performance and the challenges of capturing such an extraordinary moment on film. The evening also featured a first glimpse of the Nepal expedition, symbolically passing the torch from Africa to the Himalayas, along with a special art auction of prints by renowned street artist Nicolas Dixon, whose geometric work has become iconic in electronic music culture.

The atmosphere was electric with emotion and hope, the perfect energy to launch what promises to be LNADJ’s most transformative adventure yet. Now the global search continues for the DJ who will embody strength, community, and empowerment while standing on top of the world, music echoing across the Himalayas, proving once again that creativity can change lives.
