San Bernardino County To Vote to End to Nocturnal and Beyond Wonderland Raves!

San Bernardino County Supervisor Janice Rutherford said Tuesday she will place an item on the May 24 board agenda calling for an end to rave-style events at the San Manuel Amphitheater in Devore.

“We gave it a shot. It’s time for these events not to be at this county facility anymore,” Supervisor Janice Rutherford said, referring to the controversial Nocturnal Wonderland and Beyond Wonderland events, held annually since 2013 at the nation’s largest outdoor music venue.

Neighbors have been complaining about noise as they claim their windows rattle from the bass from the music. Other complaints include partygoers loitering near their homes.  After two deaths and multiple arrests at each event, neighbors have just had enough and want it out of their city of Devore. On May 24the there will be a San Bernardino County Board vote to explore cancelling the venue’s contract with Live Nation/Insomniac.

Additional residenti complaints include the heavy traffic that ‘traps’ residents in their homes and is a “magnet for rampant drug use and drug sales, overdose deaths and public indecency,” residents say. Given the continual and numerous complaints from area residents, Rutherford decided it was time to take drastic action. She referred to a clause in the county’s contract with Live Nation that said should the venue become a safety hazard or be subject to complaints from the neighboring community, Live Nation would agree to no longer hold the events at the amphitheater.

One of the residents who attended the April 5 meeting to voice her concerns, said at least four or five Devore residents, possibly more, plan to attend Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting as well as to continue pressing the issue.
