SiriusXM and Beatport/Beatsource Launch Weekly Radio Show ‘Pitch Control’ on BPM Station

Beatport announced yesterday that they are collaborating with SiriusXM for a new weekly radio show airing on Sundays at 8pm PST on their electronic music channel, BPM (ch. 51). The show is called “Pitch Control: Powered by Beatport,” and will be hosted by Beatsource Dance Curator as well as Los Angeles-based Andrew Ortiz aka DJ Drew. “Pitch Control” debuted this last Sunday, April 5, and brings underground electronic music tracks nationwide to SiriusXM’s U.S. subscribers.

The concept of the show was a joint effort developed by SiriusXM’s Music Programming team, Beatport and Beatsource’s curation teams as well as music content teams. Beatsource is a joint venture between Beatport and DJcity, which is the largest record promotion pool in the U.S. and serves the open-format DJ community with curated music from worldwide labels.

The CEO of Beatport, Robb McDaniels had the following to say about the partnership:

“We are thrilled to enter into this music and broadcasting partnership with SiriusXM, one of the leading music destinations here in the US. So many U.S.-based electronic music fans are thirsty for the best underground electronic music tracks that will likely be the next big dance floor hits, and our world-class curation team and Beatsource’s expert staff are the perfect combination to deliver the goods on a weekly basis.”

The tracks on the weekly radio show will be selected by the Beatport curation team while also considering the real time activity on Beatport’s LINK streaming service. The new streaming service is fully integrated with DJ hardware and software so that the songs that DJs are playing around the world are immediately known to Beatport’s curation team.

SiriusXM’s BPM channel (51) is available nationwide to subscribers as well as to non-subscribers on the SiriusXM app and connected devices. This offer is part of SiriusXM’s free streaming access period through May 15.
