Treehouse Miami Closes Unexpectedly

Treehouse, a prominent and enduring nightclub located at 323 23rd St. in Miami Beach, has unexpectedly shut its doors this past weekend. The nightclub posted an announcement on Instagram announcing their final party to be set for August 5th.

Established in 2011, the two-room nightclub at the northern edge of South Beach was founded by owner Jeremy Waks and designer Dave Glass. The space had previously housed popular venues like Groovejet and Rain . Throughout its 12-year existence as Treehouse, the club attracted top-tier DJs from around the world.

The reasons behind the abrupt closure of the club, which was later owned and operated by Michael Freundlich, remain unclear.  South Beach’s nightlife landscape has gradually diminished since its zenith in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The only remaining venues include LIV at the Fontainebleau, primarily focused on hip-hop and EDM, and the house-music-oriented Do Not Sit on the Furniture. This year saw the opening of M2, occupying the former Mansion nightclub space.

The closure of Treehouse stands as yet another poignant symbol of the decline of South Beach’s once untouchable nightlife scene.
