IBIZA ROCKS RELAUNCH LEGENDARY BOUTIQUE ISLAND RETREAT, PIKES

Ibiza, 21st April 2011 -FIX Ibiza.- Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes opens this summer. Pikes was the film set for Wham’s ‘Club Tropicana’ video and the exclusive party-retreat for the rock ‘n’ roll elite of the 1980’s, hosting Freddie Mercury, Grace Jones and Elton John, to name but a few. Now is the time to welcome a new breed of rock star through Pikes newly polished doors.

Summer 2011 sees the unveiling of a re-launched Ibizan Institution, as Pikes Hotel – named after its founder and all-round party legend/personality Tony Pike – reopens on 20th May 2011 as Ibiza Rocks House at Pikes. The 25 room boutique hotel has been lovingly restored under the ownership and direction of Ibiza’s foremost live music promoters, Andy McKay and Dawn Hindle, the unstoppable partnership behind the Ibiza Rocks, Ibiza Rocks Hotel and Mallorca Rocks brands.

Says Andy McKay, “Ibiza Rocks is the only brand that could have handled the responsibility of rebirthing such a legendary boutique sanctuary to a new audience seeking an exclusive, intimate, private, prestigious and luxury experience from their time on the island, whilst still delivering for the loyal lovers of Pikes who hold their memories of their time there in such high regard. Ibiza Rocks is responsible for the rock ‘n’ roll present and future of the island so it seemed an obvious development for us to marry the incredible legacy of Pikes with the ‘now’ of Ibiza Rocks to cater for the high end service experience that’s increasingly in demand in Ibiza .

Ibiza Rocks House is a very different hotel to the brands much larger youth driven flag carriers (Ibiza Rocks Hotel and Mallorca Rocks Hotel). It is a luxury boutique hotel aimed at the more discerning customer. There is a commonality however in that both hotels are built on a concept bigger than the hotel itself. For the Ibiza Rocks Hotel it is the outdoor live gig venue, with Ibiza Rocks House it is the destination bar and restaurant. The common bond is that the Ibiza Rocks gigs are all encompassing and will unite one and all.

The inclusive attitude of Ibiza Rocks will remain at Ibiza Rocks House, however, as a boutique project the mix of people running the show has been as carefully put together as the ingredients in the meals or cocktails. The restaurant, named Room 39, serves a modern classic menu with a rock n roll twist, the legendary breakfast room and bar takes an 80’s turn and the infamous pool immortalized by George Michael remains pride of place.

The hotels exclusive “Marrakech’ suite, famous for hosting Freddie Mercury’s legendary birthday bash, is soon to be at the heart of Ibiza nocturnal activity for those in the know. All bands headlining Ibiza Rocks will be offered this stunning accommodation option, with built in private bar. Let the good times (rock and) roll!!

Ibiza Rocks invaded the island of dance in 2005 by launching the groundbreaking series of live gigs, challenging common perceptions of Ibiza and everyone who doubted the concept’s success along the way. In 2008 came the macro youth hotel ‘Ibiza Rocks Hotel’ built around an outdoor live music venue and it’s phenomenal and fast paced success was emulated with the launch of Mallorca Rocks Hotel in 2010. Ibiza Rocks House is the next natural step and another move that will undoubtedly go down in Ibiza history.
