London, Monday 18th April 2011 – Viacom Media Networks UK & Ireland (VIMN) has announced today that MTV – its flagship music network – will be launching a brand new, exclusive live music event this summer in the heart of the Balearic Islands. ‘I WANT MY MTV IBIZA’ – in partnership with MTV Spain and the globally renowned nightclub AMNESIA – will be the latest brand-led MTV live music event, following the recent successes of MTV Crashes Glasgow and MTV Presents Belfast in 2010.

For the whole of the summer season – starting on FRIDAY 1ST JULY – MTV will host 10 branded events at Amnesia, one of Ibiza’s best known and most successful club venues, which welcomes between 4000 and 6000 people every night. MTV will bring Friday nights alive with an incredible line-up of headline performances across ten weeks of summer – taking place between Amnesia’s two rooms – with exclusive Ibiza live performances from the likes of 2MANYDJS, DURAN DURAN, MARK RONSON & THE BUSINESS INTL and RICHIE HAWTIN PRESENTS PLASTIKMAN – accompanied by a host of other superstar DJs.

Each Friday, Amnesia’s main room will also play host to an exclusive underground electronic party – ‘MTV & AMNESIA PRESENT SHAKE IT’ – with Ibiza legends LAYO & BUSHWACKA!, Amnesia’s MAR-T plus special guests including MARCO CAROLA, MAGDA and many more.

The headline sets will be aired in the form of 2 x 1 hour specials on MTV UK’s premiere music channel; MTV MUSIC (#350) and MTV DANCE (#353), incorporating must see live performances, artist interviews and exclusive backstage access. The specials will also be available to view on mtv.co.uk across the summer, with full access to video content, galleries and interviews. The event will also be aired across MTV HD – reaching MTV audiences across 27 countries in Europe. MTV Spain will also be promoting the shows across their channels throughout the summer.
