For a full year, Colyn and Sainte Vie have been playing a track nobody could actually go find and stream afterward. That changes now — their debut collaboration, “Desert Sunrise,” is officially out on Interstellar Recordings.
The track’s backstory is tied directly to Burning Man. The two longtime friends, who’d previously shared a B3B with Innellea at Burning Man 2024, wrote “Desert Sunrise” specifically to open their Maxa x Mayan Warrior sunrise set at Burning Man 2025, crafting an intro built to capture the exact feeling of watching night give way to day in the desert. From there, it became something closer to a running inside joke between the two of them and their audiences — a track that kept showing up in their individual sets as an unreleased highlight, including most recently during their B2B on the Planaxis stage at Tomorrowland 2026.
“We wrote this track while preparing for our Maxa x Mayan Warrior sunrise set at Burning Man 2025,” the pair said. “Some songs become the soundtrack to moments you’ll never forget, and this has been one of those for us. Every time we hear it, it brings back incredible memories.”
Sonically, “Desert Sunrise” leans into a growling bass synth beneath resonant, melodic themes, with slow-building, euphoric chords pulling from the more emotional end of progressive and melodic electro. A spoken vocal running through the track adds a declarative, almost ceremonial quality — less a typical festival drop and more a track built for that specific in-between moment at an outdoor party when the sun starts coming up.
Colyn, based in the Netherlands, has built a sound around trance-influenced progressive techno filtered through his own take on hop house, chasing emotion through soaring, nostalgic melodies. He’s played Burning Man, Tomorrowland, [UNVRS] Ibiza, Loveland NL, Awakenings, Hï Ibiza, and OFFSonar, with releases on Afterlife, This Never Happened, CORE, and Musical Freedom, earning support from Anyma, Mind Against, Solomun, Joris Voorn, Adriatique, ARTBAT, Patrice Bäumel, and Kölsch.
Sainte Vie, born in Mexico City and now based in Miami, blends melodic techno with world music influences to chase a similar emotional depth. His catalog spans Kompakt, Cercle, Stil vor Talent, Ouïe, All Points, and his own label Akumandra, with festival stops including Burning Man, Coachella, Tomorrowland, fabric London, Fusion Festival, Ushuaïa Ibiza, Space Miami, Loveland NL, Sound LA, and RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Tulum Sundream Festival.
