Boys Noize is heading back to his own solo catalog. ‘7LLVSION,’ his first solo album since 2021’s ‘+/-,’ arrives November 6 via his own imprint, ONES and ZEROS, with features from Brutalismus 3000, ZEP, Taichu, Maya Alkhatari, and Abra among others.
The album’s arrival comes with lead single “1+1+1,” a collaboration with Dutch artist ZEP that’s out now. The track runs a key-shifting EBM bassline under a hyperactive new wave backbeat, landing somewhere between raw and processed, vintage and current — four-on-the-floor kicks show up sparingly, marking the shift from mosh pit to dancefloor rather than driving the whole track. ZEP, who built his following out of Rotterdam’s underground scene through his self-run FUGAZZI parties, plays industrial ringmaster on the track, his voice snarling and shifting through the runtime. The lyrics reference a guest list spiraling out of control, and the title hints at something bigger than either artist working alone.
The announcement lands in the middle of an absurdly busy stretch for Boys Noize. Over the past year, he toured the world with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross on Nine Inch Nails’ Peel It Back run, co-produced nearly the entire TRON: Ares soundtrack (including the GRAMMY-winning “As Alive As You Need Me To Be”), and formalized that collaboration as Nine Inch Noize with a top-billed Coachella debut this past April that SF Gate called one of the festival’s greatest performances ever — the self-titled Nine Inch Noize LP followed that same week. A full summer of club and festival main stage sets came after. Even by his own standard, it’s a lot — and ‘7LLVSION’ adds yet another chapter rather than a breather.
Born Alex Ridha, Boys Noize has spent more than two decades bridging worlds that don’t usually overlap: a techno purist’s respect paired with genuine mainstream reach. He’s written and produced for A$AP Rocky, Bon Iver, Frank Ocean, Arca, Virgil Abloh, Lady Gaga, and Brutalismus 3000; remixed Daft Punk, Depeche Mode, Miley Cyrus, Tame Impala, The Chemical Brothers, and A.G. Cook; and scored the German hacker film Who Am I, Oliver Stone’s Snowden, and the upcoming Halsey-led horror film Replacer. He co-founded Octave Minds with Chilly Gonzales and continues producing and performing alongside Skrillex as Dog Blood. Alongside his longtime label Boysnoize Records, he launched ONES and ZEROS to spotlight a new generation of global talent from both the Global North and South.
