After being booted from its downtown Miami home of the past several years, Ultra and the City of Miami have entered into an agreement for the festival to take place at nearby Virginia Key.
The agreement is for multiple years however the City can end the contract at their option after next year if the event is seen as a headache.
Ultra has agreed to pay a rental fee of $2 million for the right to hold the festival.
During the past several weeks several roadblocks have arisen such as the agreement already in place for the Rapture Music Festival at the same general location (the fate of this event is unknown) as well as Key Biscayne residents protesting the move and a smear campaign launched as well.
The event’s new location will allow it to end at 2AM rather than before midnight (11pm on Sunday) as well as a greater capacity than at its prior location.
Regardless, one of the most well known EDM music festivals in the world has a new home for the time being and potentially for years to come.
