‘Disco Shark’ Saves Sharks!

Disco Shark hung from the ceiling of the YUMA Tent again both weekends at Coachella 2015. Disco Shark is becoming a staple of the YUMA Tent for house and techno fans. When not at Coachella, Disco Shark resides at Los Angeles’ Sound Nightclub.

New York based conservationist and artist, Kevin McHugh, created Disco Shark to bring awareness of the human practices driving sharks to extinction and change the belief that sharks are vicious predators. McHugh has also launched a GoFundMe fundraiser in the hopes of raising $20,000 where a portion of the proceeds will benefit conservation organizations ‘Shark Team One’ and ‘Oceana’. At the time of this post, McHugh has raised over $8,000. If you would like to contribute to the cause, then please go here. Memorabilia is available at different donation tiers that range from a Disco Shark key chain to an eight foot Disco Shark sculpture. McHugh’s pieces are meant to change the way people perceive sharks as trophy fish by transforming them into works of art.
