HARD Summer 2024 Lights up LA with Unforgettable Performances

HARD Summer returned this weekend, electrifying LA with its unforgettable performances. Hosted by Insomniac, the festival took over Hollywood Park, adjacent to SoFi Stadium, creating the perfect setting for this massive event.

The grounds were the perfect size for the five main stages, ensuring everyone had plenty of room to dance, explore, and enjoy the music. With the venue outdoors, the beats were heard from surrounding neighborhoods, signaling that HARD Summer was back and better than ever.

The HARD Stage featured headliners that drew in massive crowds. A special appearance from Nelly Furtado left the festival energy high hearing her hit “Promiscuous”. Disclosure’s set was another standout, getting the crowd moving and playing familiar favorites including “She’s Gone, Dance On” and “Latch”. Fans were especially enamored of Disclosure performing live rather than just djing. Fisher and Chris Lake, performing as “Under Construction” brought unmatched energy playing “Atmosphere” and “TAKE IT OFF”, keeping the audience buzzing throughout their set.

Across the festival, the lights and visuals were mesmerizing, with each set bringing its unique flair. Smoke, fire, and lasers added to the intensity of the performances, creating an immersive experience for all.

At the purple stage, artists like Joyty, Sofi Tukker, and Jamie XX kept the crowds moving and the energy high. Meanwhile, the Pink and HARDER Stages saw Chris Stussy, 33 Below, and Subtronics leaving me eager for more.

There were a few bottlenecks during transitions and at the end of the festival, reminiscent of last year’s first day issues. Transportation to and from the festival was a bit of a mixed experience. While some festival goers had smooth rides thanks to pre-arranged or public transportation, others struggled to secure Ubers after the shows ended. However, those who planned had no trouble getting to and from the venue.

The event was a well run experience, in no small part due to Insomniac’s many years of throwing large-scale events. Exploring the massive grounds was a blast, with plenty of exciting attractions like popsicle stands, art installations, and a VIP pool to cool off in. People were extremely friendly, taking part in festival activities like trading kandi bracelets, taking pictures and videos no doubt soon to be seen on Instagram and Tik Tok, and of course, dancing. With smiles radiating all around, the vibe at HARD Summer was unlike any other festival the writer has attended.

One of the standout features was the shade provided throughout the venue, a thoughtful touch much appreciated by fans. Whether dancing at the stages or cooling off in the shade, HARD Summer was an unforgettable experience that left me waiting for the announcement of next year’s lineup.

For those who didn’t want the fun to stop at 11, there were many pre and after parties held throughout LA. Featuring big names like Zeds Dead, Hamdi, Chris Lake, and Sosa, these events ensured the fun continued for those over 21. Whether you were a first-time festival goer or a returning fan, HARD Summer provided an amazing experience and the ultimate EDM weekend.
