Unfortunately the relocation of Hard Summer to SoFi Stadium in Inglewood this past weekend from the Exposition Park grounds and the Inland Empire led to many a noise complaint.
The first day of the show alone had over 150 people contacting the City of El Segundo police department worried about booms and plenty of online complaints on Facebook and Nextdoor were posted as well complaining about the bass coming from an unknown location.
The complaints are somewhat surprising as Rolling Loud has been held twice at the same location with no noise complains about the bass. In addition, Insomniac actively addressed the volume and no violations were noted by the City of Inglewood. The Mayor, James Butts, noted:
“First of all, this is the first time in five years this is the first time we’ve had this kind of complaint about music or noise and so I apologize to everyone that had their lives disrupted by the music but we have everything under control and we will continue to make sure it’s a pleasant experience not only for the people that come to the city but for the people that live and reside in this greater south bay area.”
The event’s promoters, Insomniac, also pushed out the following statement:
“For today’s event, we have made extensive efforts to mitigate sound levels with operational changes. Our team will be reacting in real-time to adjust concerns until the event ends promptly at 10 PM. While the fan experience is paramount to HARD Summer, it is equally important for us to be good members of the community and considerate neighbors to the city of Inglewood,”
Some attendees posted online they felt the volume at some of the stages was a bit ‘low’ which seems directly related to the complaints.
As the review of Hard were very favorable at this location, we hope it will return with tweaks to keep the neighbors happy.
