Mad Decent label-mates Mr Eazi and Major Lazer team up with Nicki Minaj, Nigerian singer K4mo, and UK producer Fred Again for the much anticipated release of “Oh My Gawd”. The EDM banger combines elements of dancehall and afrobeats while taking lyrical inspiration from reggae classics by Black Uhuru and Baby Cham.
“This record was really fun to make,” says Mr Eazi, “and it’s crazy how it went from hearing a K4mo intro in the studio with Fred Again, to me jumping on it and then Diplo hopping in! And Walshy hitting me up to say it’s a banger—next thing Nicki is on it! Been a journey really, like two years in the making and I can’t wait to perform it at my next festival!”
Preceding Mr Eazi’s upcoming EP Something Else due next month, the infectious new single is accompanied by a dance video that screams Tik-Tok, featuring flourescent lights, much twerking, and an unnamed man inexplicably eating a chicken leg. Watch it here:
