New Avicii doc to Stream on Netflix this NYE

A new Avicii documentary titled I’m Tim will debut on Netflix this New Year’s Eve, following its initial showing at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2023. The film features the voice of Tim Bergling (known professionally as Avicii) through previous interview recordings, as he tells his own story. The documentary explores his journey, from his early days in Sweden to becoming a global EDM superstar, with additional perspectives from his family members, industry colleagues, and close associates.

Henrik Burman directed the project, with Björn Tjärnberg producing. This follows an earlier documentary, Avicii: True Stories, which was released in 2017 under Levan Tsikurishvili’s direction.

Netflix will also stream Avicii’s last-ever concert, which took place at Ushuaïa Ibiza in August 2016. This performance marked the end of his touring career at age 26. Before stepping away from live shows, Bergling shared a heartfelt message with fans about needing change after a cross-country road trip with his team. Tragically, he passed away in Muscat, Oman, two years later at age 28.

Recent tributes to the artist include a photo collection, Avicii: The Life and Music of Tim Bergling, showcasing both his public career and private moments and an auction of his personal items in Stockholm generated $750,000 for his foundation, which focuses on youth mental health awareness. In addition, Swedish writer Måns Mosesson published a biography titled “Tim” in early 2022.
