According to The Hollywood Reporter, Diplo will executive produce an EDM based feature film for 20th Century Fox. The movie will follow 3 teens as they try to attend a Diplo event. The currently untitled film has been described as “8 Mile” meets “Project X.” Kevin Kusatsu, executive producer and also Diplo’s business partner, described the film as “like Christopher Walken and Eminem walk into a Manchester rave.” Production start date has yet to be set.
Diplo studied film at Temple University and has said that he would “love to take a year off to do strictly film work.” The producer, who is currently touring with his group Major Lazer, is know for his work with M.I.A. and Snoop Dogg. Diplo has also directed a documentary feature called Favela on Blast.
