Another Awards Ceremony, Another Win For Daft Punk.

DAFT PUNK

It seems like everybody’s favorite French DJs are showing no signs of slowing down when it comes to collection gongs, as they came away from another awards ceremony with more decoration for their trophy cabinets.

After walking away—or should we say, running away—with both Album and Record of the Year at this year’s Grammy Awards, the robotic duo, also known as Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, were awarded the Best International Group at the BRIT Awards in the UK. The BRITS are Britain’s annual showcase of all things musical (pretty much like the MTV Video Awards) and saw Daft Punk fly the electronic music flag in their nominations.

This win adds to an impressive tally of accolades for Daft Punk this year after the worldwide success of their single, “Get Lucky” and album, “Random Access Memories” was played all over the globe last year.  It was a great night for EDM as Daft Punk beat acts from the rock and alternative scene such as Arcade Fire, Haim, Kings of Leon and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. This furthermore stamps the seal on what was HUGE year for not only Daft Punk, but electronic music in general.

The two DJs were also involved in a head turning incident on the red carpet…kind of. Two Daft Punk robots made their way down the carpet and as the cameras flashed, it soon became apparent that it was indeed look-a-likes when the fake robots ripped their pants off and showed underwear endorsing Irish gambling company Paddy Power, (betting is legal in Ireland and the UK). Although this was much to the amusement of fans, the BRIT Award security failed to see the funny side and sprung into action.
