FYF Fest in LA this summer cancelled due to low ticket sales

In a surprising move and somewhat worrisome for the music business, this summer’s FYF Festfeat. Janet Jackson, Future and Florence & The Machine and more was cancelled by Goldenvoice the promoter behind the event.

Goldenvoice provided a statement that read in part:

it’s “team of many women and men … felt unable to present an experience on par with the expectations of our loyal fans and the Los Angeles music community.”

However Billboard magazine noted that the cancellation was due to low ticket sales. This years show was heavy on female talent which produced praise in the industry. It is hard to say if that had any affect on ticket sales. Another contributing factor may be that most of the big names booked this year were found at Coachella last month or other upcoming events around the US rather than being exclusive appearances.
