Infected Mushroom Mark Three Decades of Psytrance Innovation With IM30

After 30 years of reshaping the boundaries of electronic music, Israeli psytrance pioneers Infected Mushroom have released IM30, a landmark anniversary album that celebrates their journey from underground psytrance innovators to global electronic music icons.

Released on January 30, 2026—a date chosen for its symbolic resonance with the 30-year milestone—the eight-track album showcases the signature sound that has made Amit “Duvdev” Duvdevani and Erez Eisen one of the most influential duos in dance music history.

A Journey Through Three Decades

Since their formation in Haifa, Israel in 1996, Infected Mushroom has been synonymous with sonic experimentation and genre-defying production. What began as a psytrance project inspired by The Prodigy and Metallica evolved into something far more expansive. Their 1999 debut The Gathering helped bring Israeli psytrance to mainstream audiences, while 2000’s Classical Mushroom established them as technical innovators willing to merge classical influences with psychedelic rhythms.

The duo’s evolution continued through boundary-pushing releases like 2004’s IM The Supervisor and 2009’s Legend of the Black Shawarma, which incorporated elements of heavy metal, industrial music, and world sounds. Their willingness to collaborate across genres has led to work with artists ranging from Jonathan Davis of Korn to Lady Gaga, on whose 2013 album Artpop they co-wrote and co-produced the track “Aura.”

The IM30 Experience

IM30 arrives as both retrospective and forward-looking statement. The album’s eight meticulously crafted productions demonstrate the hypnotic arrangements, richly layered melodies, and fearless approach to genre-blurring that have defined Infected Mushroom’s three-decade career.

The tracklist weaves together previously released singles with new material, including the collaboration “LA Beast” with Bliss—a 10-minute journey that fuses heavy metal, rock, psytrance, and French techno at 145 bpm. The track holds special significance as the first time Infected Mushroom and Bliss worked together in the same studio, having previously collaborated remotely.

Other highlights include “What You Know You Know You Know” and “Lightweight,” alongside the album’s focus track “New World Order.” Additional productions “Enjoy The Ride,” “No More Happy Endings,” “Mesumpelet,” and “AI Therapist” round out the collection, showcasing the technical precision and unrestrained creativity that has characterized the duo’s work.

Pioneers Who Continue to Evolve

Infected Mushroom’s influence on psytrance and electronic music cannot be overstated. Ranked twice among DJ Magazine’s “10 Best DJ’s” and achieving chart success that includes a #8 position on Billboard, the duo has maintained an average of 120 shows per year, drawing fans from all walks of life to experience what many consider the world’s greatest psytrance act.

Their relocation from Haifa to Los Angeles in 2004 marked a shift toward live band performances featuring vocals, guitars, drums, and synthesizers set against multimedia backdrops. This evolution from studio producers to full-fledged live performers has been central to their enduring appeal.

Beyond performing, the duo has contributed to music technology through their work with Polyverse Music, developing plugins that enable other producers to achieve similarly innovative sounds.

A New Chapter Begins

Speaking about IM30, Infected Mushroom reflected on the significance of the release: “It represents thirty years of creating, experimenting, touring, and constantly reinventing ourselves, all distilled into a single moment. Releasing it on January 30 feels symbolic in the most honest way: 30 years, on the 30th of January, one clear statement.”

The duo emphasized that the album reflects not just their past but their ongoing commitment to innovation: “This album reflects where we came from, where we are now, and the freedom that still drives us to keep pushing forward. IM30 is the starting signal for a global celebration, of everything this journey through the international electronic music scene has meant over the past three decades, and of everything that’s still ahead.”

The Legacy Continues

From their early days stealing the name from a disbanded local punk band to becoming one of the best-selling groups in Israeli music history, Infected Mushroom has consistently demonstrated an ability to not only break the rules but create their own entirely. Their willingness to incorporate acoustic guitars, complex synthesized basses, and dramatic tempo changes has influenced countless producers and helped psytrance achieve worldwide popularity.

IM30 stands as both tribute and launchpad—honoring the duo’s roots in the psychedelic trance scene while reaffirming their position as pioneers who continue to reshape electronic music’s possibilities. As they enter their fourth decade, Infected Mushroom shows no signs of slowing down, proving that true innovation knows no boundaries.
