Fresh off Lollapalooza , Max Styler is dropping a new EP, ‘I Don’t Think I Can Stop,’ through his own label Nu Moda. The six-track project mirrors the shape of his marathon live sets, building steadily from track to track rather than front-loading the energy. It’s less a collection of standalone singles and more a snapshot of exactly where Styler is as an artist right now.
Alongside the EP, Styler put out an official video for “Love Forever,” a disco-leaning, feel-good cut featuring UK collective Kuuda. The visuals stitch together footage from his sold-out shows, capturing the chaos and energy of those crowds in real time. The track also showed up in his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, which Pete Tong hosted.
“My sets in general right now are getting longer and longer, and I think the music I’m making lends itself to those extended sets,” Styler explains. “The EP reflects a bit of the pacing and sonic identity of my live sets. When I release a single, a lot of the time they’re slap-you-in-the-face-type tunes. I Don’t Think I Can Stop shows a bit more of the journey.”
Sonically, the EP mixes live and electronic elements — heavy sub-bass, chopped-up beats, and guest vocals that anchor several tracks. A few cuts worth singling out: “Uh-Oh!” chops and loops vocals from Benni Ola into something relentless, “Body Shake” delivers the kind of crowd-pleasing drop that’s become a signature move, and “Templo Disko” throws vocal effects around the stereo field like they’re bouncing off the walls.
Some of these songs started as demos years ago, others came together in the final weeks before the release, but together they mark a turning point for the San Luis Obispo native. Styler taught himself everything — DJing on a basic controller, producing in Ableton off YouTube tutorials — and that self-made path shows up in the EP’s DNA. It captures the long road to where he is now: going viral before he’d fully found his sound, learning to trust his own instincts even when the payoff wasn’t obvious, and getting through the stretches where quitting felt like the easier option.
Styler’s calendar for the rest of the year is packed, with stops at Gallagher Square inside PETCO Park in San Diego, Shrine Expo Hall in L.A., Rock In Rio, Experts Only Fest in NYC, Portola Festival, Ill Points Festival, Tomorrowland, and Seismic. He’s also set to join Solomun’s +1 residency at Pacha before heading into his own residency at LIV Nightclub in Las Vegas.
The new EP follows his recent single “Oldskool Flavor,” which keeps adding to a catalog that’s already crossed 200 million streams, and “One More” (feat. Ad-Apt), which picked up a remix from Solomun and landed airplay on BBC Radio 1, Capital Dance, SiriusXM, Triple J, Kiss FM AUS, and 538 Dance Department. Nu Moda’s very first release, “You & Me,” also hit #1 on Beatport’s Indie Dance chart.
