Printworks Team to Launch “Depot” in Manchester

The team behind Printworks plans to open a 10,000 capacity cultural space in Manchester called Depot. Depot is set to launch during the August bank holiday for Manchester Pride Live. Depot may already be familiar with local ravers as the space, formerly known as Mayfield Depot, hosted several collaborative events with Manchester International Festival and The Warehouse Project.

Depot will be split into three main areas. Depot will be the largest of the three, Concourse will host food fairs as well as free community events, and Archive will be a smaller performance space that can be used for studio sessions as well as rehearsals.

Richard Upton, Chief Development Officer at property developer U+I, had the following to say about the project:

We want to add something to the Mancunian cultural landscape which is unique, not just in the city but in the UK. Depot will be a place that blends the global with the local and where international stars and local school children will be able access the same quality of performance and studio space. It will be democratic and distinctive.
