[FONT=arial]With its first track “Bass Salt” by 12th Planet & Antiserum recently premiering on RollingStone.com (FREE DOWNLOAD), the highly anticipated ‘SMOG CITY’ compilation comes out October 16 via iTunes pre-order and on full digital release on October 30th. The first label compilation from the influential SMOG Records, ‘SMOG CITY’ features 9 exclusive, original tracks by 12th Planet, Flinch, Antiserum, SPL, Noah D, The Juggernaut, Kelly Dean, Bare, and Djyuna.
“‘SMOG City’ is a culmination of five years of my record label SMOG making noise in dubstep. It started in downtown LA, where we still live and work with the same homies. It’s been awesome to see it blow up across North America,” John Dadzie, a.k.a. 12th Planet, told Rolling Stone. “When you listen to this compilation, its a mix of traditional dubstep, trap, and new-school dubstep all laced with the underground SMOG vibe. We’re still evolving with new and old sounds but the one thing constant is lots of bass!“
SMOG is one of the founding brands in the North American dubstep and bass music movement. Originally an event production company based in Los Angeles, SMOG has expanded into a record label, artist development hub, and lifestyle brand. With frontman 12th Planet and artists such as Flinch, Antiserum, SPL, Noah D, Kelly Dean and DLX at the helm of the label, they’ve released collaborations with some of the genre’s biggest names such as Skrillex, Kill The Noise, Datsik, Doctor P, Distance, Excision, and Plastician.
On October 30, 2012, SMOG releases the highly anticipated ‘SMOG CITY,’ a 9-track compilation representing the label’s history with dubstep as well as its continuous evolution in the sounds of bass music. ‘SMOG City’ pre-order is available exclusively on iTunes at http://bit.ly/SmogCity_iTunes
