Paradise in the Park returned to the City of Angels this past Saturday, June 1st, after a two-year intermission, partnering up with LA underground production company Future Primitive to do an Ibiza-like takeover of Downtown Los Angeles’ Grand Park, a spacious and historic location nestled between City Hall and Bunker Hill.  The 2019 lineup, headlined by Jamie Jones included Loco Dice, Los Angeles legend Doc Martin, David Berrie and tech house chart topper Latmun who played b2b with the splendid selector, Lauren Lane.

The fact that the sun never came out didn’t keep music lovers from pouring into the park starting at 3p and dancing until their glass club kicks fell off right before midnight.  In fact, if you were anywhere near the heart of Downtown LA during this time, you probably saw the parade of eclectic fashion making its way to the heart of Paradise much like children being lured by the Pied Piper.  This commingled with theatre crowds that also speckled the streets from the Walt Disney Concert Hall and Ahmanson Theatre made DTLA quite the visual feast with its melting pot of culture and style. Adding to this Jamie Jones’ cross genre rhythm making the ground come alive amidst a backdrop of lasers and City Hall’s lights celebrating the beginning of Pride LA, made Paradise’s return to LA a great early start to what is looking to be a fun-filled summer of music.
