SXMusic, the newest tropical destination electronic music festival, recently unveiled additional artists to their already stellar lineup. The festival is set to debut over five days from March 9th through the 13th in 2016 on the Caribbean island of St. Martin.
The small island of St. Martin, where temperatures hover at around 80 degrees all year long, has a European feel reminiscent of Ibiza due to its mixture of Dutch and French cultures. Yet another similarity to Ibiza is the festival’s proximity to St. Martin’s airport, SXM, which is where the festival derives its name. Festival goers will be dancing under planes taking-off and landing just like DC10. And like The BPM Festival, accommodations on the small island range from boutique hotels to large villas with palm trees, swimming pools, and private beaches.
The first wave of talent announced last month include Paradise and Hot Creations owner, Jamie Jones, who will be joined by SCI+TEC boss, Dubfire, DJ Tennis, Thugf*cker, Adriatique, live duo Blond:ish, DJ Francesca Lombardo, Psychemagik, and our favorite All Day I Dreamer, Lee Burridge. Additional artists announced recently include Rumors label boss Guy Gerber, French trio Apollonia, Ellum Audio boss Maceo Plex, Visionquest stars Shaun Reeves and Ryan Crosson, Canadian synth specialists My Favourite Robot, Dynamic’s H.O.S.H, Behrouz, Brooklyn’s Bedouin, Audiofly, Danny Daze, M.A.N.D.Y., Maher Daniel, Nitin, former Art Department member Kenny Glasgow, Odd Parents, Shall Ochin, and Lauren Lane, just to name a few.
The major difference between SXMusic from other global electronic music festivals is their encouragement of extended sets so that artists can explore the hidden gems found deep in their music collections. DJs will also have complete music programming freedom to put the Void Sound Systems to the test.
All day and night parties will take place at several venues across the island where there will be special additional production. The beautiful festival locations include The Forest: A secluded tropical forest with waterfalls, wildlife, palm trees, wooden platforms, raised lounge huts, and infinity pools. The Beach: This location features amazing views of the ocean, sunsets, as well as planes taking off and landing overhead onto the SXM runway. The Bay: This venue is another beach located in a small cove with green hills in the background, Caribbean huts, and views of the tropical ocean.
